Can I Improve AMH?
I have an AMH of 2 and a blocked tube. Can I improve AMH?
A: We’ve had patients with AMHs of less than 1 conceive and have healthy babies. I wouldn’t be so concerned about the low AMH because if you can address other things and if your FSH is below 10, it would be fine. You would still be able to conceive and that would be okay.
With one less fallopian tube, you halve your chances and sometimes you might decrease it even further because although the ovaries alternate in releasing the egg, they don’t alternate consecutively, so the right ovary might release it this month, then the left ovary might release it for the next 4 months.
Depending on what ovary you have lost, it’s going to be very difficult to be able to know how your chances of conceiving are going to be. Those cases sometimes do better with preparing, doing everything that you possibly can. As far as our treatment is concerned, this is what we do for our patients. Do everything you possibly can. Optimize your chances of a conception occurring.
Then again having the fall-back position of the possibility of going down the IVF path where /if able. The key is that we don’t know yet. I don’t know what your FSH levels are and I don’t know what other factors, other than the fallopian tube is going on for you.
One of the biggest questions that I have in the back of my mind is “what is the sperm like?” because if it’s not the best sperm that I have ever seen, then you really are possibly running into some difficulties.
