Insight Into Thyroid Tests?
Does anyone have any insight into thyroid tests…. I’ve had three T4 results at 15, with TSH ranging from 1.8-1.3 over the three….is this too low for fertility?
What I often find with testing because we see literally see hundreds of couples coming through with their tests and the things they have had done.
Often what I see is that most couples who are experiencing longstanding fertility challenges don’t get investigated properly, which is why I dedicate a day of the #FertilityChallenge to understanding fertility test results.
The other thing that happens very often is that a doctor might test something ( equating to only a fraction of the testing required) and they will tell you, “The result is okay.”
When you hear, “The result is okay,” question further because you want to know what the range is, you want to know where you’re at. For example, the thyroid, TSH range, is ridiculous. It’s 0.5 to 4.5 mIU/L.
The reality is that at more than 1 mIU/L, already people start having symptoms. So really what we want to figure out is what is not only ideal but also what is ideal for that person. It’s really important to take it from that perspective and make it a priority to figure out not only where your lab numbers are at, but also where you need to get to. That’s going to be crucial.
I hear so often couples, they’ve been to their fertility specialist and they’ve had a semen analysis and the doctor has said that the results are okay. Okay doesn’t give you babies especially when you have been trying to conceive for a very long time. Okay fall short of ideal and when you have longstanding infertility or recurrent miscarriage, you really want to get to the bottom of what’s going on.
That’s one of the things that we specialize in, in our practice for our patients because we don’t want to leave anything to chance. You guys have been going through this for such a long time. The worst thing that we can do is just kind of go, “Yeah, it’s okay,” and leave things to chance, leave those stones unturned.
I saw a lot of you asking “what tests should I do?” The reality is that I have no idea until we sit down and we really go through your history. We go through everything that you have had done with a fine-tooth comb and figure out your whole history and where you’ve been and what’s been happening for you and certainly what tests have been done, what the results were. From the results, there will be other clues of things that we need to test. Then we put together a plan to test what’s going to be relevant, specific to your particular situation.
If you are reading this, you may have also experienced the disappointment of not getting pregnant despite your very best effort to implement everything and anything you can think of/learn/trial. Thing is, that in order to implement the best solution you first need to know the problem your trying to solve, right?
Over the last decade and a half I have had the privilege of helping thousands of couples overcome infertility. In every single case, we help people identify problems that they were completely unaware of. That’s what we do, and we have a track record of success to evidence it. Ultimately, we help couples have the very best possible chance of creating a healthy baby–irrespective of whether you are trying naturally or using assisted reproductive technologies such as IVF or ICSI.
We pride ourselves on our results and as such before we agree to consult with a couple we first ascertain if we can actually be of assistance in your particular situation. The way we do this is the Fertility Discovery Questionnaire. The purpose of this questionnaire is that it provides us a minimum amount of health information needed to discuss your individual requirements and to determine if we can help you achieve your family dream.
If we believe we can help you we will arrange an agreed time for your one-on-one fertility consultation. Valued at $799 this is your opportunity to talk with one of our team of fertility experts, who provide our proven and comprehensive fertility methodology.
