IVF as a Solution for Tied Tubes

Pregnancy_IVF Support Information for tied tubes

The best option when you have tied tubes will actually be to go down the IVF path.

A number of women are asking about having tied tubes reversed, which is obviously tubal ligation. Some tubal ligation processes, they will cut it and they will clamp both ends. Some they will just clamp. None of the reversal surgeries work all that well for tied tubes.

So while having your tubes tied doesn’t stop you, it will in fact require you to do even more to maximise your chances. If you’re doing IVF, you need to do even more of this stuff of what we talked about, the minor factors. You really need to investigate, discover and address the minor factors in your life.

Look for me it’s not uncommon when I’m seeing couples – with already several failed IVF attempts – to do an assessment of the minor factors and identify 20 or more minor. It’s all too common. It’s not just a numbers game. So we need to make sure that we are optimizing everything we possibly can in order to give you the best possible chance of conception.

When it comes to tied tubes, the best option is not going to be surgery. It’s actually going to be IVF. I’m completely agnostic as to how people get pregnant. I just want to make sure that we’re doing the right things, so if they have to go down the IVF path or donor path, whatever it is that needs to be done, it’s done in a way that’s going to guarantee or give them the absolute best possible chance of success.

I don’t want to be sending someone to IVF with “let’s hope for the best”. It’s very important to make sure that you are addressing the minor factors, that you’re doing all the things that I talk about in the #FertilityChallenge.
