You Need to Quit Smoking & Drinking to Optimize Your Fertility
I have been reading some comments of people telling me that they think that they may need to quit smoking or drinking to optimize their fertility.
Let me tell you one thing: if you are still smoking, there are many, many forms of smoking cessation programs, products, things out there that can help.
Make no mistake about it: smoking in women will increase the odds of early menopause, premature ovarian failure, as well as egg quality issues and ovarian reserve issues that really you want to avoid.
It will also negatively impact the ability to keep a healthy pregnancy to term without of course having to mention the negative impact that it has on a developing embryo and of course subsequently in a developing fetus and a healthy baby.
Please no matter what it is that you do outside of this challenge, make quitting smoking your top priority because without a doubt smoking will negatively impact fertility in both men and women.
Also keep in mind the proven dangers of passive smoking. You might not smoke at all but if your partner smokes then guess what? your fertility is being impacted
It is so key, so very important to make sure that no matter what else you do, make it your top priority to quit smoking right now. I know that it’s hard. I know that it’s addictive. It’s a habit, but do you want to keep smoking or do you want a baby? That’s really the question that you need to ask yourself.
It might seem like I’m being a little bit tough on this one for a reason: for your benefit. It makes no difference to my life if you quit smoking or not. It makes all the difference to yours. It makes all the difference to your health. It makes all the difference to your fertility. Of course, it makes all the difference to your child down the track.
On another note, alcohol is the same thing.
If you are a heavy drinker, in fact if you’re a drinker, you’re negatively impacting your chances of conception.
Some of you, you’ve been trying to conceive for years. You’ve been trying to keep a pregnancy to term for years. Smoking and drinking isn’t going to help you get there.
As much as you may think that, “You know, I’m so stressed I need my cigarette or my alcohol to relax.” Well guess what? You’re actually just pushing away any chance that you would have to create the result and the outcome that you’re looking for.
Please don’t take this the wrong way. I’m not judging you. There is absolutely no judgment coming from me in regards to this. I’m doing this out of love. I’m saying these things because somebody has to say it.
Sometimes your doctor is just a little bit too nonchalant, they’re basically going to let you just keep going and paying them thousands of dollars on IVF allowing you to to continue the destructive habits, telling you that it’s a numbers game.
You know what: change these things. Make a difference to what’s going on for yourself. Really fundamentally change what’s going on and you will be amazed by what happens.
You must take a stand. You must change everything right now because if you don’t, guess what? Nobody else would do it for you. This process, this 14 Day Fertility Challenge is called a challenge for a reason. It’s not a walk in the park, so make it known to yourself that you’re here for a reason, that you’re here for a result and the result always precedes the action.
We all would love to have the benefit of exercise without having to do it. We all would love to continue to eat all the fatty foods and the sugary foods that you possibly eat putting on weight. Well the reality is that we can’t fight against something that is true like rocks are hard, water is wet, the sky is blue. Things are just how they are. Smoking, drinking, and eating junk food is kind of those rocks, water, and sky. You do those things and you are going to negatively impact your chances. It’s as simple as that.
Make a change.
