Caffeine is Bad for Your Fertility

There is no safe amount of caffeine for your reproductive health. Research reveals as little as one cup of coffee a day is enough to imbalance sex hormones impacting sperm health. It also disturbs the uterine lining preventing the implantation of a fertilized egg, leading to early miscarriage.

Researchers have found that caffeine can have an adverse affect on female fertility, so if you want to conceive it makes sense to cut caffeine out altogether. A study in Lancet showed drinking more than 300mg  a  day  (two  to  three  cups)  may  also  be  associated  with miscarriage  and  increase  the  risk  of  stillbirth.

And  decaffeinated coffee can be even more harmful to your fertility because of the solvents used to extract the caffeine.

And of course if your morning caffeine hit happens to include sugar the news gets worse… Sugar is a silent killer, affecting so many aspects of your health, not just fertility.

In addition to unbalancing the body’s homeostasis, excess sugar may result in a number of other significant consequences. The more you eat it, the more you want to eat it and the never-ending cycle goes on, it is one of the most addictive foods on the planet.

An emotional addiction to sugar (or other types of foods, or over-eating) should be worked through with the help of a health practitioner. A therapy called Emotional Freedom Technique is often very successful in this regard.

A physical addiction can be resolved by taking nutrients that help balance your need for sugar by assisting the regulation of the centres for blood sugar control in the body.

For some people this might be tough but how much do you really want a baby? You want to give yourself the best possible chance of creating the healthy baby of your dreams and you need to remember that fertility problems are not necessarily permanent.

There are many things you can do to improve your chances of a healthy conception and quitting caffeine is one simple step toward optimising your health for at least 120 days before trying to conceive.

Why 120 days? The quality of the egg and sperm today is the reflection of everything that was happening in your life and immediate environment over the previous 4 months. Your complete health picture during that time including nutrition, stress levels, blood oxygenation, hormone levels, emotions and other factors affect the quality of your fertility in the current month.
